Bidapa’s son released on bail
Leading fashion choreographer Prasad Bidapa’s nineteen-year-old son Adam Bidapa, who was arrested on charges of beating up policemen outside a nightclub in Bangalore, has been released on bail.
A City court ordered Adam Bidapa’s release on the condition that he furnishes a personal bond of Rs 20,000. The court also stipulated that Adam Bidapa report to the police station on the 15th and 30th of every month. Adam Bidapa will also have to deposit Rs 100,000 when he travels abroad.
The 11th additional chief metropolitan magistrate Basavaraj Chega Reddy before whom the matter came up has posted the next hearing to November 3.
Counsel M T Nanaiah, who represented Adam Bidapa, said his client had adhered to all the stipulations set by the court. Even the Rs 100,000 that had to be deposited in lieu of his travel abroad has been deposited.
Adam Bidapa was taken into custody by the police and put in Bangalore Central Prison after he reportedly abused and assaulted three policemen outside a nightclub in Bangalore early on Friday. The alleged assault came as policemen were clearing the customers from the nightclub, which had been functioning beyond the 11.30 pm deadline for closure in violation of police rules.
A case has also been booked against Prasad’s wife Judith Bidapa for misbehaving with the police when she came to the police station on learning about her son’s arrest. In a fit of rate, Judith is believed to have pushed the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central), Bangalore G B Chebbi, leading to the fracture of his finger.
With the police likely to issue an arrest warrant against Judith Bidapa on charges of obstructing a public servant from discharging his duties, Nanaiah said he would file an anticipatory bail application for Judith on October 25.
Meanwhile, Prasad Bidapa accused policemen of violating the human rights of an individual. Speaking to reporters, Bidapa poured scorn on the policemen for illegally detaining his son. He said his wife, who had accompanied him to the police station, had accidentally shoved a policeman, who lost his balance and fell down.
