Krishna elected to Rajya Sabha
Former Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna was declared elected to the Rajya Sabha as the Congress and BJP bagged two seats each to the upper house of the Parliament from the state.
While Congress candidates Krishna and mining baron Anil Lad were elected to the Rajya Sabha, the winning BJP candidates were former Bihar Governor Rama Jois and noted educationist Prabhakar Kore.
Though the elections were scheduled to be held on June 26, the results were announced without a contest after the last date of withdrawal of nominations on Thursday. After declaring the results, the returning officer even handed over the certificates to the winning candidates.
