Scion of Mysore royal family launches designer apparel

The scion of Mysore royal family Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, who is known for his luxury hotels, has now ventured into the world of fashion by releasing a collection of designer apparels under the brand name of “Royal House of Mysore”.

The collection of summer/spring apparels was launched at a fashion show organized at the majestic Bangalore Palace to mark his 54th birthday. A wide range of sequences from bridal-wear to read- to-wear clothing with captivating colours were showcased before a select gathering by noted models adoring the trendy wear and doing a catwalk on the ramp.

Despite being promoted by the royal family, the apparel is aimed at the Aam Janata, keeping in mind the changing tastes of younger generation and the middle class. “I want to transform the idea of a saree from its traditional outlook to a modern fashion statement”, Wadiyar told reporters at the launch of his designer apparel.

He said the brand promises to hold a futuristic appeal even while retaining the essence of Indianness in the clothing line. As part of the future plans, Wadiyar said he is in the process of enhancing their boutiques at Mysore and Bangalore Palaces. Plans were also afoot to launch an e-commerce portal to reach a wider audience, where customers can choose their options on style and colour.
