Karnataka Governor plays Good Samaritan

Few people knew how the granddaughter of renowned shehnai exponent Ustad Bismillah Khan, Manish Raza, who is studying in Bangalore, could reach Varanasi in time for the funeral of her grandfather recently.

It was none other Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi, who played the role of a Good Samaritan to help Manish Raza reach Varanasi from Bangalore.

Raza approached the Governor soon after she heard about her grandfather’s death on Monday. In a goodwill gesture, Chaturvedi agreet the meet the airfare of her trip out his discretionary grant.

Though she was put on a flight to Lucknow from Bangalore, the departure was delayed, causing much anxiety to Raza. But, the Governor came to her rescue again by arranging for a car from the Raj Bhavan in Lucknow soon after she landed there. The car took her to Varanasi just in time for her to attend the funeral of her grandfather, according to an official press release here.
