Kumaraswamy likely to drop Zameer Ahmed Khan

The political circles in Karnataka are agog with speculations over dropping of Minister for Minorities and Wakf Zameer Ahmed Khan from the coalition Ministry in the wake of his reported revolt against Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.

Giving a hint over the likely dismissal of Zameer Ahmed Khan from his Cabinet, Kumaraswamy told reporters that the Minister had joined the long list of people, who had betrayed his father – former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda - and him after securing political favours.

“It has become a routine for my father and me to be left in the lurch by apparently close associates”, Kumaraswamy said adding that Zameer Ahmed Khan is the latest addition to the tribe.

A blue-eyed-boy of Kumaraswamy, the first-time MLA Zameer Ahmed Khan had been accommodated into the coalition Ministry at a time when the JD (S) was under intense pressure for allocating ministerial berths to several senior partymen.

Zameer Ahmed Khan, who was at the wheels of the luxury bus, which carried the flock of JD (S) MLAs to Goa after the party withdrew support to the Dharam Singh-led coalition Government, has raised a banner of revolt against the Chief Minister and abstained from the JD (S) Legislature Party meeting convened last week.

Zameer Ahmed Khan is reported to be in constant touch with JD (S) MLA Anil Lad, who is another friend-turned-foe of the Chief Minister.
