Cop crushed to death between two trucks

In a bizarre incident, a cop was crushed to death between two trucks in Bangalore on Friday.

Police said Head Constable Kempaiah was on his way to the City Armed Reserve (CAR) headquarters on Mysore Road in the City when he stopped his jeep after seeing a crowd gathered adjacent to a railway tracks en-route.

He found man’s body on the railway track and informed his concerned police officials over the wireless about the matter. He cleared the crowd that had gathered at the spot for traffic to pass and walked back to his parked jeep.

But, while walking back to jeep, he tried to pass in between two trucks parked next to each other by the roadside. One of the drivers, unknowingly reversed his vehicle and Kempaiah was crushed between the two trucks. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital, but he succumbed to the injuries.

Meanwhile, the driver of the truck fled from the scene after the mishap. Police said Kempaiah had been serving the police department since 1984 and had been recently promoted as head constable.
