Karnataka plans new NRI Cell

Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa is all set to open an NRI Cell, which will co-ordinate with Non Resident Indians keen on investing in the state and float joint ventures in various fields.

BJP MLC Ganesh Karnik is all set to head the NRI Cell and co-ordinate with Non Resident Indian entrepreneurs.

According to officials in the State Government Secretariat, the Chief Minister is of the opinion that a lot of investment can be brought to the state if there is person to co-ordinate with the NRI entrepreneurs.

However, it was not immediately known whether the NRI Cell would replace the Karnataka Diaspora Cell that already exists under the aegis of Karnataka Commerce and Industries Department or will become a separate entity. The details of the NRI Cell will be known after the Government notifies its establishment and appoints Karnik to head the same.
