Poor Malaysian children to receive heart treatment in Bangalore

About 200 poor children from Malaysia suffering from congenital heart treatment will be flown down to Bangalore shortly for medical treatment.

Revealing this information, Chairman of Bangalore’s Narayana Hrudalaya hospital Devi Shetty said the Malaysian Government would be bearing the entire cost of providing treatment to the poor children.

“The children will be arriving in Bangalore in the next 15 to 20 days and they will undergo surgery at Narayana Hrudalaya hospital a few days after their arrival”, he said.

The Malaysian Government’s decision to send poor children suffering from heart ailments for treatment in the City is in recognition of the expertise of doctors in Bangalore and the advanced facility available for treating children suffering from congenital cardiac diseases, he said.

Bangalore is fast becoming a hub of medical tourism on the strength of its advanced medical car available at a cheaper cost.
“All these years, we used to see individuals from various countries coming here for treatment on their own expense. But, for the first time a foreign country’s Government is taking such a step, which is indeed a tribute for our expertise”, Shetty said.
