Youth takes romantic route to Guinness Book

In an effort to make it to the coveted Guinness Book of World Records, a 30-year-old youth from Uttara Kannada district in Karnataka has taken the romantic route and penned a 143-page long love letter.

Harish, a native of Kavalakki village in Uttara Kannada district, who is still a bachelor, said he wrote the love letter in Kannada to an imaginary lover called “Abhisarika” for the sake of entering into the Guinness Book of World Records.

An employee of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Harish began his marathon effort on February 14 this year on the Valentine’s Day by writing a page or two every day after office hours. By the time, his epic love letter containing 33,100 words ended, it was May 25.

“I used to write one or two pages every day after 7 pm. I am used to writing as I had written short stories when I was in college and later wrote to a few Kannada language newspapers and magazines”, he said.

Harish said he stretched the love letter to 143 pages as 143 is considered to be the common code word of lovers. Whether his effort fetches him a place in the coveted Guinness Book of World Records or not, the author is hoping that his unusually long love letter helps him find a bride.
