Telgi brought to Bangalore

The alleged mastermind behind the multi-billion rupee fake stamp paper scam Abdul Karim Lala Telgi was brought to Bangalore yesterday amid tight security.

A thick blanket of security was thrown around the railway station in Bangalore, where Telgi arrived by train from Pune on Sunday morning, accompanied by security personnel from Maharashtra.

Telgi was immediately taken away to Bangalore Central jail at Parappana Agrahara on the outskirts of Bangalore, where he will be lodged. Tight security arrangements were made in the City in view of the threat to Telgi’s life.

Telgi was shifted to Bangalore Central jail from Yerawada jail in Pune after the video conferencing facility there had broken down.

Telgi’s trail in pending cases booked by the Madiwala and Upparpet police stations in Bangalore will now be conducted from Bangalore Central jail through video conferencing facility, Telgi’s advocate Rajanna told reporters at the Bangalore railway station.
The special court in Bangalore, which is hearing the cases against Telgi, is scheduled to take up the matter on Monday.
